Minimum Requirements for Graduation
Minimum Requirements for Graduation
All students that are candidates for a degree must have at least a 2.0
(4.0 is an A) average for all course work taken at UIUC and at least a 2.0
average on combined transfer and UIUC course work. The Animal Sciences
Department requires 126 credit hours for graduation, regardless of the
option in which the student is enrolled.
In addition, students are required to spend either the first three years
(earning not less than 90 semester hours) or the last year (earning not
less than 30 hours) in residence on the Urbana- Champaign campus uninterrupted
by work elsewhere. Credit earned by proficiency examinations, correspondence
courses, Advanced Placement exams, or extramural course work will count
toward the first 90 hours of residency but not the last 30 hours.
There are some credit restrictions that apply in arriving at the total
credit hours that can be used toward a College of ACES degree:
- No credit toward graduation is allowed for Math 102, 103, 104, 111,
or 112, and only two hours of credit will be allowed for Math 116.
- No more than twelve hours of credit in special problems, internship,
and international experience courses may be counted toward
graduation. Courses offered experimentally under the 199- course
rubric are excluded from this twelve-hour restriction.
- No more than three hours of basic activities courses in kinesiology
(physical education) may be used toward a degree. Current basic
courses are KINES 100 through 110 and KINES 199 courses of one-hour
credit.
- No more than 12 hours of credit earned in LAS 110 may be applied toward
graduation.
- Using campus-wide cut-off scores, the College of ACES will recognize
Advanced Placement (AP) test credit.
- College of ACES courses used to fulfill non-ACES requirements cannot
be counted toward the minimum number of ACES hours required.
